LUCY WILCOX
My artistic journey focuses on the unexpected expressions discovered within the urban landscape of Glasgow.
With expertise in film, sound, graphic design, and painting,
I engage in an interdisciplinary practice that enables me
to explore the intricate compositions reflecting the multifaceted nature of city life.
My goal is to produce work that acts as a vibrant portrayal of space, shaped by my personal experiences and observations, and that uncovers the complex relationship between vandalism and creativity. I am particularly captivated by the textures and traces of graffiti, the effects of spray paint removal, the presence of debris, and flyposting, drawing connections to abstract expressionism and themes of mental well-being.
Growing up amidst these urban features, I developed an awareness of the dynamic story of the city, weaving
together its past and present into a vibrant tapestry of activity.
Graduated with a BA Honours in Painting and Print-Making at Glasgow School of Art, and an HND in Illustration/Visual Communication at City of Glasgow College.
